Temper My Spirit, O Lord

Temper my spirit, O Lord,
Keep it long in the fire;
Make it one with the flame, let it share
That upreaching desire.
Grasp it, thyself, O my God;
Swing it straighter and higher!
Temper my Spirit, O Lord,
Temper my spirit, O Lord.
