Ye sons and daughters of the King

Author: Jean Tisserand, b. 1419; J. M. Neale, 1818-66 Hymnal: The New English Hymnal #125a (1986) Topics: Procession Lyrics: Alleluya! Alleluya! Alleluya! 1 Ye sons and daughters of the King, Whom heavenly hosts in glory sing, To-day the grave hath lost its sting. Alleluya! 2 On that first morning of the week, Before the day began to break, The Marys went their Lord to seek. Alleluya! 3 An Angel bade their sorrow flee, For thus he spake unto the three: 'Your Lord is gone to Galilee.' Alleluya! 4 That night the Apostles met in fear, Amidst them came their Lord most dear, And said: 'Peace be unto you here!' Alleluya! 5 When Thomas afterwards had heard That Jesus had fulfilled his word, He doubted if it were the Lord. Alleluya! 6 'Thomas, behold my side,' saith he, 'My hands, my feet, my body see; 'And doubt not, but believe in me.' Alleluya! 7 No longer Thomas then denied; He saw the feet, the hands, the side; 'Thou art my Lord and God,' he cried. Alleluya! 8 Blessed are they that have not seen, And yet whose faith hath constant been, In life eternal they shall reign. Alleluya! 9 *On this most holy day of days, To God your hearts and voices raise In laud, and jubilee, and praise. Alleluya! 10 *And we with Holy Church unite, As evermore is just and right, In glory to the King of Light. Alleluya! Languages: English Tune Title: O FILII ET FILIAE

Hail the day that sees him rise Alleluya!

Author: Charles Wesley, 1707-88; Thomas Cotterill, 1779-1823 Hymnal: The New English Hymnal #130a (1986) Topics: Procession Lyrics: 1 Hail the day that sees him rise Alleluya! Glorious to his native skies; Alleluya! Christ, awhile to mortals given, Alleluya! Enters now the highest heaven! Alleluya! 2 There the glorious triumph waits; Alleluya!, Lift your heads, eternal gates! Alleluya! Christ hath vanquished death and sin; Alleluya! Take the King of glory in. Alleluya! 3 *See! the heaven its Lord receives, Alleluya! Yet he loves the earth he leaves: Alleluya! Though returning to his throne, Alleluya! Still he calls mankind his own. Alleluya! 4 *See! he lifts his hands above; Alleluya! See! he shows the prints of love: Alleluya! Hark! his gracious lips bestow Alleluya! Blessings on his Church below. Alleluya! 5 *Still for us he intercedes; Alleluya! His prevailing death he pleads; Alleluya! Near himself prepares our place, Alleluya! Harbinger of human race. Alleluya! 6 Lord, though parted from our sight, Alleluya! Far above yon azure height, Alleluya! Grant our hearts may thither rise, Alleluya! Seeking thee beyond the skies. Alleluya! 7 There we shall with thee remain, Alleluya! Partners of thine endless reign; Alleluya! There thy face unclouded see, Alleluya! Find our heaven of heavens in thee. Alleluya! The God of Abraham praise

Author: Thomas Olivers, 1725-99 Hymnal: The New English Hymnal #148 (1986) Meter: 6.6.8.4 D Topics: Procession Lyrics: 1 The God of Abraham praise Who reigns enthroned above, Ancient of everlasting days, And God of love: To him uplift your voice, At whose supreme command From earth we rise and seek the joys At his right hand. 2 *Though nature's strength decay, And earth and hell withstand, To Canaan's bounds we urge our way At his command. The watery deep we pass, With Jesus in our view, And through the howling wilderness Our way pursue. 3 *The goodly land we see, With peace and plenty blest, A land of sacred liberty And endless rest; There milk and honey flow, And oil and wine abound, And trees of life for ever grow With mercy crowned. 4 There dwells the Lord our King, The Lord our Righteousness, Triumphant o'er the world and sin, The Prince of Peace: On Sion's sacred height His kingdom he maintains, And glorious with his saints in light For ever reigns. 5 *Before the Saviour's face The ransomed nations bow, O'erwhelmed at his almighty grace For ever new: He shows the prints of love-- They kindle to a flame, And sound through all the worlds above The slaughtered Lamb. 6 Before the great Three-One They all exulting stand, And tell the wonders he has done Throughout the land: The listening spheres attend, And swell the growing fame, And sing in songs which never end The wondrous name. 7 The God who reigns on high The great archangels sing, And 'Holy, holy, holy' cry 'Almighty King!' Who was, and is the same, And evermore shall be: Eternal Father, great I AM, We worship thee.' 8 The whole triumphant host Give thanks to God on high: 'Hail, Father, Son and Holy Ghost' They ever cry: Hail, Abraham's God and mine! (I join the heavenly lays) All might and majesty are thine, And endless praise. Languages: English Tune Title: LEONI
