Wholehearted Thanksgiving to You I Will Bring

Hymnal: Psalter Hymnal (Gray) #9 (1987) Meter: 11.11.11.11 Topics: Laments; Laments Lyrics: 1 Wholehearted thanksgiving to you I will bring; in praise of your marvelous works I will sing. For joy I will shout and exultingly cry in praise of your name, LORD my God, O Most High. 2 My foes were turned backward in utter despair; they stumbled and perished because you were there. For you have defended my right and my cause; you sat in just judgment, upholding your laws. 3 You chided the nations, the wicked destroyed; their names you erased and forever made void. The foe is consumed and completely disgraced, their cities uprooted, their memory erased. 4 The LORD will eternally sit on his throne, establishing it for his judgment alone. He righteously judges the world with his might; all peoples will know that his judgment is right. 5 The LORD is a stronghold, a bulwark, a tower, for all the oppressed in their dark troubled hour. Those knowing your name, LORD, trust you for your grace; you have not forsaken those seeking your face. 6 Sing praise to the LORD, who in Zion does dwell; among all the peoples his mighty deeds tell. The cry of the poor never fades from his ear; their blood he avenges; he always will hear. 7 LORD, see what I suffer from malice and hate. Have mercy! O lift me away from death's gate, that I with the Daughter of Zion may voice your praises, and in your salvation rejoice. 8 The nations are sunk in the pit they prepared; their feet in the net which they hid are ensnared. The LORD by his judgment has made himself known, and by their own works are the wicked o'erthrown. 9 The wicked shall perish in death's dark abode, with all of the lands who are heedless of God. No longer forget the just cause of the weak, nor banish forever the hope of the meek. 10 Arise, LORD, let sinners not think themselves strong; let peoples be judged in your presence for wrong. Strike terror within them, O LORD; make them see that nations, though pompous, must still bend the knee. Scripture: Psalm 9 Languages: English Tune Title: WALTHER

Why Do You Stand So Far Away, O LORD?

Hymnal: Psalter Hymnal (Gray) #10 (1987) Meter: 10.10.10.10 Topics: Laments; Laments Lyrics: 1 Why do you stand so far away, O LORD? Why do you hide yourself in troubled times? In arrogance the wicked trap the poor; they catch the weak in schemes they have devised. 2 The wicked boast about their hearts' desires; the covetous renounce and spurn the LORD. In pride they see no need to seek for aid; in all their thoughts they say, "There is no God." 3 They prosper and in pride ignore your law; at all their foes they only puff in scorn. Within their hearts they think, "I am secure; throughout my life my happiness is sure." 4 Their mouths are filled with oaths and lies and threats; beneath their tongues are evil thoughts and deeds. They lie in ambush near the village street; the innocent they murder and defeat. 5 The helpless one is crushed and trampled down; another victim falls beneath their might. At heart they think, "God has forgotten this; he hides his face, so he will never see." 6 Arise, O LORD, lift up your hand, O God! Do not forget the helpless and the poor. Why do the wicked proudly scoff at God and say, "He will not call me to account"? 7 O God, you note injustice and distress that you may take it all into your hands. The helpless ones commit themselves to you, for you give help to orphans and the poor. 8 O break the wicked evildoers' arm! Seek out the secret sin they try to hide. The LORD is King through all eternity; all sinful ones will perish from his land. 9 LORD, you will hear the longing of the meek; strengthen their hearts, incline your ear to them. You will defend the orphan and the poor that evil ones may terrify no more. Scripture: Psalm 10 Languages: English Tune Title: FLENTGE

Protect and Save, Me, O My God

Hymnal: Psalter Hymnal (Gray) #59 (1987) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Topics: Laments; Laments First Line: Protect and save me, O my God Lyrics: 1 Protect and save me, O my God, from those who seek my life; and set me high, secure, above the rising tide of strife. 2 The workers of iniquity against me lie in wait; though I am innocent, O LORD, they gather in their hate. 3 Now see their wickedness, O LORD; come to my help, I plead. LORD God of hosts, O Israel's God, rise, help me in my need. 4 My enemies with deadly rage renew their fierce attack. They think the LORD will not regard, but you will turn them back. 5 O God, my strength, on you I wait; to you for help I flee. My God with mercy will defend his own triumphantly. 6 O Lord our shield, let wickedness and pride be put to shame. Then all will know that you do rule, and all will fear your name. 7 Like dogs that prowl the city streets my foes slink back at night. They would devour my life like food, but God will win the fight. 8 When all the night of woe is past and morning dawns at length, then I will praise you, loving God, my refuge and my strength. In Your Heritage the Nations

Hymnal: Psalter Hymnal (Gray) #79 (1987) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Topics: Laments; Laments Lyrics: 1 In your heritage the nations now, O God, rebellious stand; they defile your holy temple, they destroy your chosen land. Ruthless, they have slain your servants, they have caused your saints to mourn; in the sight of all about us we endure reproach and scorn. 2 O how long against your people will your anger burn, O LORD? On your enemies, the heathen, let your anger, LORD, be poured. Smite the kingdoms that defy you, that do not call on your name. They have long devoured your people and destroyed your land with flame. 3 O remember not against us evil by our fathers done. LORD, deliver in your mercy; near to ruin we have come. Help us, God of our salvation, for the glory of your name. Why should nations shout defiance? Take away our sin and shame. 4 Let the nations know our Savior will avenge his servants slain. Loose the prisoner, save the dying, all your enemies restrain. Then your flock, your chosen people, songs of thankfulness will raise; and, to every generation, we will sing your glorious praise.

2 Wilst du dein eigenthum Sie lassen gar besitzen?
