1 என் தரிசனம் நீர்
ஆண்டவரே,
நீர் எல்லாம் எனக்கு
நான் ஒன்றுமில்லை,
உம் வசனம் எனக்கு
நல்ல துணை, நான்
நிற்கையிலுமே
என் உறக்கத்திலும்.

2 என் புத்தி என் ஞானம்
நீர் மெய் வசனம்,
நீர் என்றும் என்னோடு
நான் உம்முடனே,
நீர் என் தந்தை நான்
உந்தன் பிள்ளையாமே,
நீர் என்றும் என்னோடு
நான் உம்முடனே.

3 என் நெஞ்சின் கேடயம்
போர் வாளும் நீர்,
தற்காப்புக்கு நீர்
எந்தன் சக்தியாவீர்,
என் ஆத்துமத்திற்கு
நல் கோட்டையுமே,
நீர் என்னை தூக்கி
உம் விண்ணில் சேருமே,

4 செல்வ சம்பத்தும்
போற்றுதலும் வீண்,நீர்
தாம் எந்தன் பொக்கிஷம்
எல்லாமுமே, எந்தன்
நெஞ்சில் நீர் தாம் நீர்
மட்டுமேயாம், நீர்
ராஜாதி ராஜனாம்
என் எல்லாமே,

5 மேலோக ராஜனாம்
விண்ணின்சூர்யன்,
அவ்வானந்தம் வெற்றியும்
எனதாக்கும், என்
நெஞ்சின் நெஞ்சமே
நான் வீழ்ந்திடினும், நீர்
எந்தன் தரிசனமாயிருமே.

Saint Dallán Forgaill (ca. 530–598), also known as Dallán Forchella, Dallán of Cluain Dalláin, and born Eochaid Forchella, was an early Christian Irish poet, best known as the writer of the Amra Choluim Chille ("Eulogy of Saint Columba") and the early Irish poem "Rop tú mo baile," the basis of the modern English hymn "Be Thou My Vision." Dallán Forgaill's given name was Eochaid, and his mother was called Forchella. He was the son of Colla, a descendant of the legendary High King Colla Uais. His nickname, Dallán ("little blind one"), was earned after he lost his sight, reputedly as a result of studying intensively.
