More good than his own hands can do; He in the time of general grief Shall find the Lord has mercy too. 3 His soul shall live secure on earth, With secret blessings on his head, When drought, and pestilence, and dearth, Around him multiply their dead. 4 Or if he languish on his couch God will pronounce his sins forgiven, Will save him with a healing touch, Or take his willing soul to heaven. Psalm 51

Author: Isaac Watts Hymnal: Laudes Domini #271 (1890) Topics: God Pity; God Pity First Line: Show pity, Lord! O Lord! forgive Lyrics: 1 Show pity, Lord! O Lord! forgive; Let a repenting rebel live; Are not thy mercies large and free? May not a sinner trust in thee? 2 Oh, wash my soul from every sin, And make my guilty conscience clean; Here on my heart the burden lies, And past offences pain mine eyes. 3 My lips with shame my sins confess, Against thy law, against thy grace: Lord! should thy judgments grow severe, I am condemned, but thou art clear. 4 Should sudden vengeance seize my breath, I must pronounce thee just in death; And if my soul were sent to hell, Thy righteous law approves it well. 5 Yet save a trembling sinner, Lord! Whose hope still hovering round thy word, Would light on some sweet promise there, Some sure support against despair. Languages: English

What various stores of good, Diffused from our Redeemer's hand, And purchased with his blood. 4 Jesus, our living Head, We bless thy faithful care; Our Advocate before the throne, And our Forerunner there. 5 Here fix, my roving heart! Here wait, my warmest love! Till the communion be complete, In nobler scenes above. Languages: English Tune Title: SHIRLAND
